Reunion Rules
R-1. The reunion is to be annual. (Adopted, 1981)
R-2. The annual reunion is to be held during the third weekend in July, unless by majority vote of those present at the current reunion, another date and definite reunion site is selected for the following year. (Amended, 1988)
R-3. The annual reunion must be held in Southeastern Michigan every other year. (Adopted, 1982)
R-4. The next year’s reunion site and chairpersons are to be decided by vote at the current year’s reunion meeting, and the proposed hosts are to present a formal program they intend to employ. (Adopted, 1982)
R-5. An official family photograph of everyone gathered together is to be taken at each reunion. (Adopted, 1983)
R-6. Each year, the youngest family member (child) present is to be determined, and the smallest denomination U.S. Savings Bond is to be purchased and awarded to such child. No child shall receive the honor more than once. (Amended, 1982)
General Rules
G-1. Family Treasury
a) There shall be an elected permanent Family Treasurer who shall collect and account for family does and other financial matters. The Treasurer is to open and maintain an appropriate bank account. The Treasurer shall maintain the account from year-to-year, carrying balances forward each year. (Adopted, 1983)
b) The fiscal year for the Cheek Family financial account shall be June 1 to May 31 each year. The Treasurer shall prepare a written report of transactions that occurred during the year. The form of the report shall be: “Year’s Beginning Balance”, “Additions to Account”, “Deductions from Account”, concluding as “Year’s Ending balance”, (which shall be next year’s “Beginning Balance”) (Adopted, 1988)
c) A copy of the current year’s written Treasurer’s Report, as set forth in the preceding subsection, shall be made available to all adult members of the family and distributed either as 1) a part of the mailing f the “Final Plans” for the reunion, 2) as a separate mailing in June of each year, or 3) at the reunion in sufficient time to allow it to be studied for discussion during the annual Family Meeting. d) No money may be taken from the Family Reunion Treasury to be used for the purchase of alcoholic beverages. (Adopted, 1992)
G-2. Annual Family Dues
a) Yearly dues of $25.00 per family unit is collectible before or at the annual reunion. A family is defined as the head of a household (at least 18 years of age). (Amended, 1984)
b) The prior practice of reduced dues for senior-aged family members practice is repealed. (Adopted, 2012)
c) In April of each year, the Family Treasurer shall determine which family units have not paid their dues for the current year, and shall cause a “Dues Reminder Notice” to be sent to the heads of those households. (Adopted, 1988)
G-3. Family Colors: The official family colors are burgundy and white. (Adopted, 1993)
